Handmade, not mass produced

Physician by profession, artist at heart, and founder of Rezell Candles.
What began as a quiet creative hobby became something more when friends and family started lighting her candles, gifting them, and asking for more. Their encouragement turned an evening pastime into a small, personal business built around craft, fragrance and thoughtful design.

Dr. Smita Shilavat has always been drawn to art, design and making things by hand. Candle making began simply because she enjoyed it: experimenting with forms, colours, moulds, fragrance combinations and presentation.
Alongside that creative side is a demanding medical career. Her professional background includes emergency and intensive-care medicine, healthcare administration and patient care. She also trained in Ayurveda, a discipline that shaped the way she thinks about fragrance, botanicals, sensory balance and the relationship between everyday rituals and a sense of wellbeing.
Rezell grew organically. Friends and family began using her candles at home and for celebrations, then recommending them to others. Orders followed. What had been a hobby slowly became a business—not because she set out to build a factory, but because people wanted the pieces she was already making.
Every Rezell candle carries the founder’s preference for craftsmanship over scale.

Many designs begin with her own ideas for shape, presentation, colour and occasion rather than a standardized production catalogue.
Her Ayurveda background informs the way she approaches scented oils, ingredient choices and the overall sensory character of a candle—without making therapeutic claims.
Much of Rezell’s work is seasonal or created around a specific celebration, gift or request. That means collections can change, designs can evolve, and custom work is part of the brand rather than an exception.
Her professional path has included medical officer roles in emergency and ICU care, clinical counseling, healthcare operations and research-related work. She also founded Aarogyam Healthcare Clinic in Nashik, where her work has included Ayurvedic practice and the creation of products such as soaps, lip balms, creams and traditional wellness preparations.
Rezell is a creative venture, not a medical product line. Her clinical and Ayurvedic background influences her eye for ingredients, scent and ritual, while the candles themselves are made for atmosphere, gifting and décor.
